There were 38 of these 26ft standard cruisers built by Halvorsen Sons from 26/6/1954 to 1/4/1965.  19 were built for the Halvorsen Hire Fleet on the Hawkesbury and 19 for private commissions.  Originally named Glen, Claire was the 12th 26 footer built.  There is one other 26 footer in WA.

Glen was purchased from the Halvorsen Bobbin Head boat yard by David Smith of Sydney, Fern Bay in October 2000.  He renamed her Claire after his granddaughter who now lives on Perth.

Dr Peter Nattrass bought Claire in 2004 and had her transported to Perth in early 2005.  She was housed in the well known Blue Boatshed in Matilda Bay, Mounts Bay Road. Leon English bought Claire in June 2010 and began a restoration project that lasted about four years, with every detail of the boat reconditioned and upgraded.

Serious input from Joe Curtis (Meroo).  Without his input, the restoration would not have happened.  Alan Cain (Rob Royston) was always available for advice and coaching in the care of a classic and did plenty of work in helping do the re-wiring of electrics by his son Simon of Welshpool Auto Electrics.  Kevin Hart (shipwright) did lots of amazing work on the hull and coachwork to make the rescue possible.  Numerous other clever people helped in various ways – too many to name.  Thanks everyone!!!
